National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Scholarship Opportunity
In accordance with National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association’s (NIAAA) purpose to promote,
facilitate and increase the knowledge and understanding of the vital role of interscholastic athletics in the educational
system, this scholarship program will foster and recognize the partnership between the NIAAA and secondary education.
The scholarships will recognize the distinguished scholastic, leadership and sportsmanship attributes of high school
student-athletes, and the importance of high school athletics in each student’s life.
Criteria:
1. Applicant
must be a
Senior.
2. Applicant must have achieved at least two (2) of the following: (a) minimum of B+ average;
(b) ranked in the top 25% of class; (c) ACT score of 24 or an SAT score of 1100 (Verbal and Math only)
3. Applicant must have participated in two sports for at least two years in each sport
4. Applicant must have earned at least one varsity letter in each of two sports
5. Applicant must complete attached scholar/essay application
6. Applicant must have a letter of recommendation from the high school athletic administrator/director
7.
School athletic director must be an NIAAA and NYS Athletic Administrators Association member
8.
The principal or athletic administrator/director must sign the application to ensure that the academic information
submitted is accurate.
9. In order to be considered, the school submitting the application(s) must send them (faxed or postal mail) to his/her
respective Chapter Representative postmarked no later than Friday, November 30, 2018. (Note bottom of last page)
10. Your Chapter Representative must submit his/her Chapter’s selections (1 Boy, 1-Girl) to Dennis Fries, NYSAAA’s
liaison,
postmarked, emailed (dfries@sectionv.org) or faxed (585.266-2827) no later than Friday, January 4, 2019.

Scholarship Awards:
NYS State Winners - one male and one female will each receive a $250.00 Scholarship and a plaque recognizing them
as New York State winners. The individuals will also have the opportunity to attend the NFHS National Student Leadership Summit (NSLS) in Indianapolis, IN from July 16-18. All expenses will be paid for by NYSPHSAA.
NIAAA Section Winners - one male and one female will each receive a $1,500.00 scholarship and a certificate recognizing then as section winners.
National Winners - one male and one female will each receive a $2,500.00 scholarship and a medallion recognizing them as national winners
