Section V Athletics

Providing Media Coverage

    Section V Athletics now has a Media Policy and Photography Policy that will assist our sectional staff to quickly identify media, school assigned staff, sponsors, event staff, and broadcasting crews. Members of the media who would like to cover Sectional competitions or Regional events that Section V is hosting must apply for and secure a Section V media pass in advance. Only bonafide media outlets will be considered and it is recommended that your editor or sports director submit the number of passes and invididuals and their roles completely to ensure you have your media passes in a timely manner. 

Please follow the steps below to ensure that you have the NYSPHSAA media credentials needed to gain access to areas designated for the media at Section V Sectional and Regional events that Section V is hosting.

STEP 1: Read the Section V media policy found here and the Section V photography policy found here.  You will want to also review the NYSPHSAA Media Policy & Procedures found here.

STEP 2: Submit an application for a NYSPHSAA media pass by clicking here. Please note that submitting an application via this form does not guarantee that a media pass will be granted.  If a media pass is granted you will receive a media pass in the mailing address you have provided.

STEP 3: Due to space constraints in media areas at some venues, members of the media who plan to do a radio broadcast or video broadcast should first notify Section V of their planned attendance in advance by visiting www.sectionv.org/mediaattendance.  You will need to fill this out for Section V hosted sectionals and regionals events.  Each Section who hosts regionals may have different policies and procedures for broadcasting so please contact their office if they're hosting a regional event you'd like to broadcast.  NYSPHSAA semifinals and finals require permission as well for Radio or Video broadcasting from them and details can be found here.  You must obtain permission first before being granted the ability to broadcast any video or radio at any sectional, regional, or NYSPHSAA semifinals/finals event.
