Section V Athletics has opened a search for its next Executive Director, a Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES Shared Service role that leads interscholastic athletics for member schools across the Finger Lakes and Greater Rochester region. About the Role
The Executive Director reports to the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations and serves as the chief administrator of Section V Athletics. The Executive Director works in partnership with the Athletic Council, Executive Board, sport coordinators, officials’ organizations, and member-school athletic directors to advance a positive, well-managed interscholastic athletic program for student-athletes across the Section.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer the development and maintenance of a positive interscholastic athletic program serving student-athletes and member schools.
- Advise the Executive Board and Athletic Council on policy matters and ensure all Section V policies are implemented consistently.
- Represent Section V with the NYSPHSAA, NYSAAA, member districts, officials’ organizations, and the community.
- Direct the preparation of the annual Section V budget and oversee financial, personnel, and business records.
- Coordinate scheduling of Section V events and contests and supervise the assignment and payment of officials.
- Provide oversight of sportsmanship initiatives and championship contest operations.
Qualifications
Required: Active New York State School District Leader certification and Active New York State Teaching Certification in any subject area.
Strongly preferred: Three or more years of experience as an Athletic Director in a school district, high school varsity coaching experience, and a Master’s Degree in Sports Administration or Physical Education.
