Starting this academic year, the sportsmanship committee is going to be running a "Caught in the Act of Kindness" campaign across Section V. Often times poor sportsmanship receives more attention, and not enough emphasis is put on the extraordinary sportsmanship actions that are happening across the Section. Section V athletic directors received campaign instructions and bag tags at the annual New York State Public High School Athletic Association summer meeting to distribute to individuals demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship.
 
     Sportsmanship chair Shawn Strege of Webster Schroeder stated: "Sportsmanship is more than just a word; it’s an action. Our new Caught in the Act of Kindness initiative will recognize those who go above and beyond, showing that the best name you can ever be called is "a great sport." By putting the spotlight on these positive examples, we will show that we are simply #BetterTogether."
