Ryder Reichert scored with 8:00 left in the third quarter to give Alexander/Pembroke an 8-0 lead, but CL/W/B scored 11 unanswered to close the game.
Alexander/Pembroke took the kickoff to start the second half and went 80 yards in eight plays. Reichert capped the drive with a 16-yard run for six.
CL/W/B took the ensuing kickoff and drove 60 yards in six plays capped by a 33-yard touchdown pass from Jayden Gibbs to Asher Olson. The duo combined on a two-point conversion to tie the game at 8-8.
One drive later, Carson Fairbank connected on a 25-yard field goal to give CL/W/B the difference in the game.
Madden Perry sacked Gibbs in the end zone to give Alexander/Pemboke a 2-0 lead with 4:04 remaining in the first half.
CLASS D
AVON (9-3) 12
NEWFANE (12-0) 75
Mac Capen rushed for 161 yards and scored six times to highlight a Newfane offense which found the end zone on its first seven possessions. The Panthers needed less than three minutes to put six points on the board with Capen doing the honors from nine yards out. On the ensuing Avon drive, Capen returned an interception 96 yards for a touchdown. After a 2-point conversion, Newfane led 14-0.
Avon made it a 28-12 game with 1:51 remaining in the first half when Evan Blye connected with James Chase on a 31-yard touchdown completion.
Newfane responded and went 64 yards in six plays including a 42-yard completion from Capen to Mikey Henning to give the Panthers first and goal at the six-yard line. Capen eventually scored with 6.8 seconds left in the half.
Newfane’s Camryn Stover rushed for 183 yards and one touchdown on 10 carries. Camlo Flowers carried the ball 10 times for 90 yards and a score.
Kal Dolgos capped a nine-play, 65-yard drive with a nine-yard run for a touchdown to get Avon on the board with 6:49 to go in the second quarter. The Riverhawks trailed 20-6 at that point.
