Fall is officially upon us, and we're getting deeper into the Girl's Soccer season. Sectionals are still a few weeks away, but this will be a crucial week for many teams throughout the Genesee region. Here are some big matchups this coming week!
September 20:
Naples Big Green (D1) vs. Red Jacket Indians (C1): Two Finger Lakes West teams looking to offset some early losses will meet Monday night in Manchester, with the chance to gain some much-needed momentum in their Sectional classes.
Friendship/Scio Golden Eagles (D2) vs. Hammondsport Lakers (D2): Two Class D2 schools with similar records will clash in the heart of the Finger Lakes on Monday night in a non-league matchup.
Addison Knights (C1) vs. Haverling Rams (B2): The Addison Knights face a tough away opponent in the Haverling Rams on Monday night. The Rams have not allowed a goal since their opening game loss to Hornell: will the Addison Knights be the team that can finally put the ball in the net?
Gananda Blue Panthers (C1) vs. Marion Black Knights (D1): A rising Gananda squad travels to Marion Monday night for an under-the-lights Wayne County showdown that promises to deliver.
September 21:
GV/Belfast Jags/Bulldogs (D1) vs. Bolivar-Richburg Wolverines (C2): Two Allegheny County rivals with similar records will meet for a southern-tier clash in the shade of the region’s gorgeous fall foliage...on the first day of fall, no less!
York Golden Knights (C2) vs. Keshequa Indians (C2): The undefeated York Golden Knights will look to preserve their perfect record Tuesday night, as they travel to Kiwanis Park in Nunda for an exciting Livingston league matchup.
Spencerport Rangers (A1) vs. Fairport Red Raiders (AA): It’s a battle of the ‘ports, as the Spencerport Rangers look to stay atop the Class A1 standings when they travel east along the Erie Canal to face a tough Fairport team on Tuesday night.
Warsaw Tigers (C1) vs. Dansville Mustangs (B2): The Warsaw Tigers will head south Tuesday night to face a tough team of Dansville Mustangs, who have amassed 39 goals in only six games.
September 22:
Arkport/Canaseraga Wolves (D1) vs. Avoca/Prattsburgh Tigers/Vikings (D2): The Wolves of Arkport/Canaseraga have built up a ton of momentum with 12 goals scored and 0 goals allowed in their last three games, but will it hold up against Class D2 #1 seed Avoca/Prattsburgh?
Pal-Mac Red Raiders (B1) vs. Wayne Eagles (A2): Pal-Mac and Wayne look to keep their storied rivalry alive in this heated match in Ontario Center on Wednesday night. Pal-Mac looks unstoppable as of late, but you can never count out the Eagles.
September 23:
Brighton Bruins (A1) vs. Spencerport Rangers (A1): A Monroe County shootout is expected between the Bruins and the Rangers on Thursday night, as both teams look to sit atop not just the Monroe County standings, but Class A1 as well.
Eastridge Lancers (A2) vs. Canandaigua Braves (A2): Both of these Class A2 schools have suffered several narrow losses this season. Who will straighten the course in this Monroe County league matchup Thursday night?
Byron-Bergen Bees (C2) vs. Lyndonville/Medina Tigers (B1): The Byron-Bergen Bees are a force to be reckoned with in Class C2, but the newly combined team of Lyndonville/Medina presents a unique challenge. Can the swarm survive their trip to Tiger-town?
Letchworth Indians (C1) vs. Caledonia-Mumford Warriors (C2): Letchworth and Cal-Mum have similar records in Livingston County, and both will look to move up in the standings on Thursday night when they finally face off.
September 24:
Wayne Eagles (A2) vs. Penn Yan Mustangs (B2): The Eagles have a long drive down to Penn Yan for this Friday night Finger Lakes East matchup. Despite some tough losses as of late, the Mustangs and their top scorer Sierra Harrison can be expected to give the Eagles a good battle.
Williamson Marauders (C1) vs. Marion Black Knights (D1): Another installment in this classic Wayne County rivalry will take place Friday night, as the Marauders make the short trip over to Marion. With both teams trying to rally following some early setbacks, expect this one to come down to the final few minutes of play.
September 25:
Pavilion Golden Gophers (C2) vs. York Golden Knights (C2): Pavilion has amassed several wins as of late, pulling themselves out of the ground after a slow start, but their golden rivals in York threaten to put them back in the L column.
Nardin Gators (A) vs. Aquinas Little Irish (A2): The Little Irish will have a big challenge in the form of the Nardin Gators in this inter-Sectional matchup. How will they handle this opponent from Buffalo?
Dansville Mustangs (B2) vs. Haverling Rams (B2): Steuben County will be rocking on Saturday as these two Livingston-league powerhouses will finally meet for the first time this season.
