Section V Athletics is proud to share that four of its member schools have been selected as Special Olympics national banner Unified Champion Schools. The schools recognized from within Section V include Churchville-Chili Senior High School, Irondequoit HS, Newark High School, and Victor High School.

Of the more than 10,000 Unified Champion Schools in the United States, this esteemed honor was bestowed upon only 155 schools this year. A total of nine schools across New York State earned this distinction, four of them within Section V.

To achieve this honor, a school must meet “10 standards of excellence focusing on Unified Sports, inclusive youth leadership, and whole-school engagement” determined by the Special Olympics.
