Hall of Fame
Judi Knight graduated with a BS from Southern Illinois University in 1964 and received her MS from Buffalo State University in 1974. She received her Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) from SUNY Brockport in 1981. Judi taught physical education and coached at Edison Tech High School and became their athletic director in 1982 until 2000.
In the Rochester area and Section V Judi was a true leader from the very beginning. She was an instrumental person on the Section V Girls’ Basketball committee, At-Large Representative to the Section V Athletic Council and the first female President of Section V. She also served on the Section V Constitution, Eligibility and Finance Committees. Locally, Judi was Girls’ Soccer and Swimming Chairperson from 1980 to 1985. She is a charter member of the Greater Rochester Amateur Athletes foundation from 1985 to present. Mrs. Knight has been very instrumental in the growth and advancement of athletics in and around Rochester and Section V.
At the state level, Judi was a Central Committee member of the NYSPHSAA from 1990 to 1994. She also served on the Good Sports Committee from 1995 to 2000. Mrs. Knight was an Exhibits Manager for the NYSAHPERD from 1988 to 1992. She also served as NYSAAA Awards Chair. from 1985 to 1992 and was on the NIAAA Awards Committee from 1992 to 1997 and the NIAAA Certification Committee from 1998 to 2000.
In recognition of her outstanding leadership in the early years of girls’ sports and her leadership in local, State and national associations and programs, Judith Knight has received numerous awards, among them: RCAC Friends of Athletics Award (2003); CWZ COA Leadership and RCAC Teacher of the Year Awards (1985); Chapter 5 AD of the Year (1988); NIAAA State Award of Merit (1995) and the NYSAAA Apple Award in (2000).
Judith Knight has been inducted into the Section V Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007, the Frontier Field Walk of Fame in 2012 and the NYSAAA Hall of Fame in 2016.
