Chris Bourne

Wayne & Brockport CSD AD/ Section V Wrestling Coordinator

            Chris Bourne is a 1975 graduate of East Rochester where he participated in football and wrestling under legendary coach Don Quinn. He was a 1979 graduate of Cortland State, receiving his degree in physical education. He began his teaching and coaching career at Wayne Central in 1980. Chris then taught and coached varsity wrestling at Canandaigua from 1990-1992 before returning to Wayne Central as an assistant principal and eventually Director of Athletics and PE. In 1997 until he retired in 2014, Chris was the Director of Athletics and PE at Brockport Central School District. Since retiring he has served as interim Athletic Director at Wayne (2015) and Gates Chili (2016).

            Chris and a colleague started the Brockport Wall of Honor in 2004. During his career he served as Chapter V President (1991-1992), MCPSAC Boys Sport Coordinator, NYSAAA conference planner for President John Pelin, Section V Wrestling Coordinator (2006-2012) and Assistant Coordinator (2012 to present). Chris has also been an integral member of Friends of Wrestling, whose main purpose is to fundraise to help support Section V Wrestlers.

            Chris has been honored with NYSAHPERD Zone Director of the year Award (2001), Chapter 5, Athletic Administrator of the Year Award (2002), Wayne Central Wrestling Hall of Fame (2005), East Rochester Hall of Fame(2015), Section V Wrestling Hall of Fame (2013), and NYS Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame (2022). The Monroe County Public School Athletic Conference, Inc. named their annual varsity wrestling tournament in his honor. (2022)

            Chris lives with his wife Debbie in Hammondsport and in Englewood, Fl. They have 4 adult children and 10 grandchildren.
