Greenwood Canisteo AD/Co-Chairperson of the Section V Modified Committee
 

             Ann is the middle child of 5 children and lived in Olean, NY.  She graduated from Allegany Central School in 1981 where she participated in basketball and track & field.  Ann graduated from Salem College, West Virginia in 1985 where she played basketball for 3 years (’82, ‘83’, ’84).  She received her masters in Health Science from SUNY Brockport in 1993.
 
            Ann taught physical education from 1985 to 2004 in the Canisteo Central School District.   In 2004 Canisteo became Canisteo Greenwood Central School after a merger with Greenwood Central School and taught her remaining years (2004-2018) at Canisteo Greenwood CSD. Ann retired in 2018 after a 33 year career.
 
            Mrs. Hosmer coached girls basketball for 18 years.  During that period of time she coached Varsity (5 yrs.), JV (13 yrs.) 1986-2003. She also coached girls track & field for 8 years from 1985-1993.
 
            Ann is a visionary and hard worker: she created the first summer youth soccer program at Canisteo; she had her American Red Cross Instructor Certification and offered Coaching certification to the teaching and coaching staff as well as coaches from surrounding areas during teaching career; she was also a Lifeguard instructor. As head of the Physical Education department she mentored many teachers throughout her career.  In her spare time she was the school’s Yearbook co-advisor and a class advisor.

            Ann was the director of athletics at Canisteo-Greenwood 2004-2018 and the Steuben County league President 2012-2018.  She was the Steuben County Girls Representative to Athletic Council 2012-2018 and very importantly was the co-chairperson of the Section V modified committee and Section V rep to the NYSPHSAA modified committee for 10 years (2008-2018).
Ann has been recognized/honored with the Salem College Presidential Award (1985); Section V girls track coach of the year (1993); National Honor Society Teacher Award (2013) and the Steuben County Athletic Association Presidential Award (2018).
 
            Ann has been married to her husband Gary for 30 years and they have 3 adult sons (Colin, Nick & Nate).
